JRTV and JTC and Jordan and Ramadan and television Sultan on 25 Sep 2007 10:26 am

Two days ago I was invited to Iftar at my brother-in-law house and as usual I was the first to finish eating, I went outside to smoke argeeleh sitting against the TV watching the famous Jordan television Channel Ramadan show (Ramadan Ma3na A7la) and this was the first time to watch it this year.
I’m not an announcer to judge on the poor performance of the show announcer…
I’m not a director to judge on the way of composition…
I’m not a scientist to judge on the level of questions…
But I can simply know the difference between a Football and a Tennis ball!!!

The Guest was the Syrian Singer Shadi Jamil who was with the announcer asking questions to participants over the phone helping them in some how to answer the right question winning the question prize, till he received a call from a participant woman asking her the following Q:

Which ball of the following is the biggest in size???
1. Tennis Ball.
2. Foot Ball.
3. Billiard Ball.

he and the announcer started to use their face impression showing that the billiard ball is the answer!!!! while the participant was thinking and thinking not because of the difficult question NO!!! but because of the confusion they led her to, then she decided to use her brain and answered that the football is the biggest, Oooooooooops they asked her the question again and again insisting on her to answer the billiard ball is the biggest!!!

she gave up to their insistence and answered the Billiard Ball…

WHAT???
She won the prize!!!! Yes she won the prize!!!!
JTC don’t know the right answer!!!!

I really like to know why & till when???

Oh, by the way the Iftar was delicious. :-)

Yesterday my mobile went out of network, troubleshooting was done sim isn’t working.

1777 was dialed (from another mobile) mobilecom customer service center Mahmoud speaking how can I help you? He checked the line and informed me that the SIM is damaged and I should replace it with a new one.

They close at 19:00, time now is 17:35; quick I go, 17:45 I arrived a queue ticket was taken my number is A022 I looked to the screen calculating the estimated time of service numbers were as follows: (A587, B305, C594).

I took a deep breath and sat down, time is running service is too slow; WHY? Oooooops, 12 counters are available 3 employees only behind the desk ( 2 girls, 1 man) one is talking to the same customer all the time, one is reading/writing a message and insists to call customer number A595, while the young man is working hard taking one customer after another.

What’s going on?, I’m not in an bureaucracy government establishment, I’m at one of the leader private companies in Jordan. (Mobilecom / Orange to be), how such a thing happens, I can’t guess maybe someone can help me to figure out the reason. Is it genes again?

I really like to know why & till when???

By the Way, my turn was at 18:36, I left mobilecom happy at 18:37 served by the same young man. And there was 62 customers still waiting, and that lady is still talking to the same customer (hope they solved the problem by today).

Thursday Morning and as usual I left to work around 07:20, tuned my radio on Fann Fm. to hear frankly with Al-Wakeel program (Besara7a ma3 el Wakeel), this episode was dedicated to follow up the weather in our beloved country, by updating listeners with road situations, accidents, traffic …etc surly after arranging with all concerned parties. They received plenty of calls and messages asking if there is work, school, college …etc. or it will be considered as a holiday due that it’s heavily snowing out side, accordingly the program started to establish connections with all concerns and they announced one after the other, that we weren’t informed by the Meteorology department that weather will be this bad, so today will be considered as a day-off.

During this I was years back away from today, remembering that we are facing the same problem with our Meteorology Department. Long time ago our justification was it’s not their problem, how can they know things unseen, till a sound came out from silence saying STOP!!! Who said it’s unseen??? Meteorology is a science which depends on figures, facts, and readings that are already seen… WHAT, people were shocked?? The same voice continued saying, come on think of it, don’t be narrow minded, no body can know things unseen while other countries are providing their people with accurate forecast, IT’S SCIENCE!!!!, although people got the point but still nothing had changed, what is the problem then??? Justifications are back, this time they agreed that Meteorology is science (Thanks God), but it’s a costly science, such technology needs allot of money that we don’t have, so we thanked God that they at least give us summer details right, (today it will be sunny, winds speed will be moderate, temperature is around it’s normal average, and for Aqaba Bay sea waves will be calm) same thing all the summer.

One day after, a TV. Program interviewed the Jordanian Meteorology department manger that day when he SHOCKED us again!!! By telling that proudly we purchased the most advance Meteorology equipments world wide and our staff are highly trained, and he thanked all concerned for their support. People were happy; congratulations were posted in newspapers, we were proudly waiting winter to watch the weather forecast, but unfortunately winter is back again equipments are ready staff is well trained but the forecast was not accurate, WHY?? Nobody could guess.

Suddenly I waked up on Al-Wakeel voice asking a senior from the Jordanian Meteorology Department the same question, and with no accurate answer.

I really like to know why & till when???

When I knew that his Majesty will make an address before the American Congress, I wondered what will be the subject of the speech in general, economy, relations between the two countries, the situation in the Middle East, and much more of expectations.

Yesterday his Majesty addressed the American Congress.
Yesterday his Majesty addressed Americans in the way they think.
Yesterday his Majesty amazed the Congress, even the entire world.
Yesterday his Majesty clarified the meaning of peace to the entire world.
Yesterday his Majesty said, “Today I must speak and I can’t be Silent”.
Yesterday his Majesty said, “We need all hands on deck”.
Yesterday his Majesty said, “the status quo could not be allowed to continue”.
Yesterday his Majesty warned that it “is pulling the region and the world towards greater danger… the cycle of crisis is spinning faster”
Yesterday his Majesty clarified to entire world the case at Palestine by saying,” Sixty years of Palestinian dispossession, 40 years of occupation… have left a bitter legacy of disappointment and despair”.
Yesterday his Majesty taught the world the meaning of Arabism.
Yesterday was the last chance to rescue the peace process.
Yesterday the Congress Standup clapping 18 Times within 30 minutes speech.

Yesterday I was more proud to be a Jordanian . . .

God Bless Jordan and his Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein.

Yesterday, while I was thinking of a new thought to share you with I heard that annual salaries for Lebanese announcers in local Radio Stations is not less than 100′000 JD with all other benefits such as; a house, car …etc.

I was going to forget telling you that this amount is only for couple of working hours a day five days a week.

Then I started to remember that there’s allot of companies who are hiring foreigners with high salaries, and when going into details you can’t find anything special in this expert. I’m not talking about all but most of them.

We all understand and believe that Jordan’s main capital is manpower and brains, so why we need the increasing number of foreigner workers who sometimes don’t reach the proficiency level of Jordanian coworkers.

Why we pay for foreigners many times as much as Jordanians who used to work the same job?

An innocent question always came to my mind; if we paid for qualified Jordanians the same salary as foreigners wont his productivity be better even than the foreigner, at least he will be much more loyal than the foreigner.

Why abroad Jordanian workers are well respected and considered as a fortune and we look for others to manage our business.

I’m sure that every one of you knows a foreigner worker, as a coworker, a friend, even a neighbor then number is increasing day by day, and Jordanians are leaving day by day.

This morning I received a call on my mobile . . . I never saw the number before, although I don’t answer strange numbers especially during holidays.

Answer is clicked & a Hello is said!!!!!

A young maybe old man was on the phone, asking for Salem !!!!!

Who’s Salem . . . I don’t know Salem, and I was so polite by answering him: Sorry, the number is wrong there’s no Salem around.

Then, suddenly without any premises I was SHOCKED, CONFUSED, and maybe I was getting ANGRY.

What’s going on, the man is shouting, I’m sure he’s shouting telling me to give the phone to Salem right now, because he don’t like such jokes in the early morning . . . .

I told him ya baba I’m not Salem, and this phone doesn’t belong to Mr. Salem. So please check the number and call him again.

He still insists that the number is right, and I’m a Liar . . . . WHAT!!!!! He just said that I’m a liar. (I took a deep breath in this moment) and said:

Mr. X I’m not a liar and this phone doesn’t belong to Salem, can you please tell me the number that you dialed, the number was BLA BLA BLA, while mine is BLA BLA BLUM, you see the number is different.

I apologized to the man because I answered the phone and couldn’t give him Salem, and he thankfully said no problem and hanged up the phone.

Why this Bad Attitude???

Trust me the problem isn’t with this man in specific it’s a problem in the community as all, if you where alone smiling they will say (YOU ARE CRAZY) while angry expressions is highly welcomed.

Go anywhere, police station, public department, private sector …etc. no body is smiling; even smiling faces are ready to fight anytime, they are already charged with anger, with no reason.

I’m not saying that there’s no problem with audience too it seems the problem is in our genes.

What is the reason is it the severity of desert!!! Maybe, I can’t know but I’m sure that our people are hospitable, generous, and honorable even with these anger expressions.

I think it’s time to change our attitude, and to look forward to better things.

Yesterday, I went out with my friends ( Jad & Na3ouri)
and as usual they brought their cameras with them, to be ready to shoot any nice view.

So we found our selves in Al-waibdeh, Wow what a nice view it was . . . they shot pics there before but for me it was the first time to C such a view!!!!

Although we spent 2 hours watching Jad trying to shoot a night mode pic using his new Canon S3 Camera, we were stared from more than one as if we are doing something wrong.

Honestly, we were a little bit confused and aware from any policeman to pass by, because we or friends faced some problems regarding the same thing before.

Why it’s almost forbidden to shoot photos in Amman??

I’m not asking to shoot photos for an embassy or a government building; I’m asking to take photos for nice views, a hotel, a mosque or a church.

Why don’t they put signs in Amman showing that shooting photos is not allowed in this area, so everybody will know his rights and stick with.

Yes I believe in safety & security, and I always look forward so my country will be the best ever.

But, this is too much!!!!

You know something!! Sometimes I believe that it’s not a rule to not allow shooting photos in such a place I think it’s an initiative move done by the policeman him self . . . Maybe because he can’t imagine that there’s a hobby called shooting photos . . . which can reflect positively on the economy of the country, by sharing photos on the web we can show to the entire world how much our country is civilized, beautiful, and modern which will reflect positively on tourism.
